Liverpool midfielder Keita going to AFCON 'not 100% fit'

Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita admits he's not fully fit joining Guinea's African Cup of Nations squad.

The midfielder suffered a season-ending injury last month, ruling him out of their Champions League final triumph over Tottenham.

He suffered the problem in the first-leg of the European semi-final against Barcelona and was not expected to be fit until the start of next season.

The AFCON competition, which gets underway on June 21, in Egypt was initially thought to be too soon for Keita but Guinea believe that he will be ready to play for his nation.

“I am very happy to meet my teammates," Keita is quoted as saying by Guineefoot.info.

“I am hoping to start work now even though I am not 100% fit, but when I was in Liverpool - I had already started training with the ball.

“Upon my arrival here, I am going to train with the team to see what's next. I like to assure the fans, my teammates and the coach that I should be ready for Guinea's first match.

“I am 100% motivated."
