Liverpool midfielder Elliott happy seeing Diaz off the mark

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott is happy seeing Luis Diaz off the mark for Monday's 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.

Diaz brought Liverpool back on level terms with an outstanding solo goal that saw the Colombian dribble past a series of challenges as he came off the flank, before planting a 20-yarder into the right corner.

“Lucho is an unbelievable player, and he took his chance amazingly and this is what these players are here to do," said Elliott.

“To be in and around them and to learn from them is always a great learning curve for myself and to learn their skills and hopefully take it into my game."

Jürgen Klopp's side will now begin preparing for a trip to Old Trafford next Monday evening to face fierce rivals United, where they aim to post a first league victory of the season.

“There were a lot of positives from tonight – a lot more than the Fulham game, so it's a stepping stone for us," added Elliott. “We just need to make sure we get the three points now.

“Man United is always going to be a tough game away at their place. We're just going to be fully focused and with full fight and hopefully we can go in and put it right this time."
