Ashley Williams has rated Liverpool's Joe Allen as one of the best players in the Wales squad.

The 26-year-old Reds midfielder is a much-loved figure in the Dragons setup and according to Swansea City defender Williams, is an extremely important member of Chris Coleman's playing group.

"Everyone loves Joe," he said.

"Great beard, great haircut, great guy, he's the main man in the squad. Class player too.

"But he is one of our best players, without a doubt. I remember when we played in the Olympics together he was unbelievable on the back of a great season with Swansea.

"When Brendan (Rodgers) left it was a natural fit for him to go to Liverpool. Any time I have seen him for Liverpool, he has played really well and he is very much underestimated."
