Liverpool manager Klopp hails Minamino as 'top class character'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has lauded Takumi Minamino for being a 'top class character'.

The Japan international has been used sparsely since arriving at Anfield in January 2020.

But Minamino is still fighting for his place, scoring twice in the 3-0 win over Norwich City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

"Just a logical thing," Klopp said about playing Minamino. "He didn't play too much, come back from injury, sometimes, it's easy, sometimes not but he's a top class character."

On Minamino's frustration, Klopp added: "A footballer wants to play. He got injured with national team and got fit. It's not he didn't play for 16 weeks or whatever.

"Players need time to get back on track. He deserved his goals. Good awareness, quick of mind."
