Liverpool management delighted as Paul Glatzel makes U23 return

Paul Glatzel was back in action for Liverpool U23 last night.

The Liverpool Echo reports Glatzel made his first competitive appearance of the season as the U23s fought to record a 1-0 victory over Arsenal in the Premier League 2 on Friday night.

The striker, who missed the entire 2019/20 campaign due to an ACL injury, did return in pre-season with the Reds but suffered a frustrating injury last month - setting him back again.

However, the 19-year-old has overcome that latest obstacle in a welcome boost to U23s boss Barry Lewtas as he was introduced just after the hour-mark against the Gunners in place of Jack Bearne.

Tom Clayton scored the only goal of the game with an excellent strike from outside of the box just 15 minutes before half-time, to help the young Reds continue their winning streak following their impressive victory over Chelsea last weekend.

Reds coach Barry Lewtas said: "It was great to have Paul [Glatzel] back and give him some minutes. He held the ball up well and he offers us so much."
