Liverpool are showing interest in Sao Paolo young gun Igor Gomes, according to reports.

The 21-year-old has played 44 times for Sao Paolo and represented Brazil at the U20 and U23 levels.

And Brazilian publication Esporte Interativo (via Sport Witness) says the Reds, along with Dutch club Ajax, have contacted Gomes' agent.

They both want to find out more information about the attacking midfielder, who has been likened to Brazil legend Kaka.

It is reported that Gomes does hav an EU passport, which eliminates the issue of acquiring a work permit.
