Liverpool maintaining interest in West Ham midfielder Rice

Liverpool are maintaining interest in West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.

Football Insider says Liverpool are continuing to lay the groundwork for a marquee midfield signing next year and have a "strong interest" in the Hammers skipper.

It has been reported that the Reds could reignite their interest in Rice after they highlighted his qualities last summer but couldn't front West Ham's transfer demands.

Rice has come to the fore as one of the standout midfielders in the Premier League and has barged his way into Gareth Southgate's England plans - where he is now a bonafide starter.

The Reds' early season misfortunes has lead to increased scrutiny on the midfield and Jurgen Klopp as well as speculation surrounding proposed targets. Following an injury to Jordan Henderson, Liverpool moved to make the late addition of Arthur Melo on loan from Juventus - who has since suffered an injury and now faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
