Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has wrote off Premier League clubs for this season's Champions League title.

Fowler believes the Champions League will be won by a new side this season and has backed Atletico Madrid to go all the way.

"My career as an expert tipster never took off, but, if I'm offering a decent bet this season at reasonable odds, then it would be on the Champions League," Fowler said.

"Liverpool know how to get to the final, obviously, and so do Real Madrid.

"Manchester City are desperate to lift the trophy and I expect Pep Guardiola to throw resources at it, by resting players in the Premier League. Barcelona will also be out to make amends for their shock exit at Anfield last season.

"But I have a surprise choice to give you a run for your money – Atletico Madrid."
