Liverpool legend Carragher: Morrison Man Utd failure nothing unique

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher doesn't believe Ravel Morrison will ever make it at Premier League level.

Derby player-coach and ex-United striker Wayne Rooney suggested that Morrison, now of Sheffield United, did not have the work rate to match his talent.

Carragher has had his say, stating: "It'll be difficult now for him.

"This promise is something that's not gone away in the last couple of years, it's probably seven or eight years ago.

"It's nothing new this type of story. Someone not really fulfilling their potential."

He then explained: "I think there's a big difference between a great talent and a great player.

"The mental side of it, not just on the pitch but off the pitch, the sacrifice you have to make being professional, listening to your coaches, that's part of being a player.

"When I hear someone say, someone never made it because they didn't have any pace, well for me the side that let Ravel Morrison down is also part of being a footballer.

"So when people say he should have made it, I'm like, 'no, because the thing he's lacking is a big part of being a top professional player'.

"There's no doubt he had huge challenges at a young age, but it's a story sadly that we've heard before and we'll hear in future."
