Liverpool legend John Aldridge says Daniel Sturridge needs to fight for his Reds future.
Sturridge, who scored twice in the Reds' 5-0 EFL Cup demolition of Burton Albion last week, found himself relegated to the bench for the 1-1 draw with Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
Aldridge wrote in his column for the Liverpool Echo: “There's no doubt that Daniel Sturridge has a fight on his hands at Liverpool.
"I'm sure it will have hurt him being left on the bench for so long during Saturday's game at Tottenham.
"But Jurgen Klopp is the boss and he did what he believed was best for the team.
"It's not like a couple of years ago when we seemed to be so reliant on Sturridge. We have other options now and Klopp has favoured playing Roberto Firmino up top in big games away from home before.
