Liverpool keeper Reina says he never wanted to leave

Pepe Reina has admitted that he never wanted to leave Liverpool despite plenty of reports suggesting otherwise. The talented Spanish goalkeeper was linked with an Anfield departure during the winter transfer window but today said that he was always happy at the Merseyside club even though they were experiencing a difficult run at the time.

"I am happy at Liverpool and so are my family. I've never wanted to go. It is true that we have improved a lot this year but we have to keep growing," he told Radio Marca.

He also said that former club Barcelona is the best team in the world after clinching this season's Champions League title with a comprehensive 3-1 victory over Manchester United on Saturday.

"They're the best team I've seen in my life," he added. "Xavi and [Andres] Iniesta are the best players in their position in the world.

"They are a world leaders in every sense. Fortunately, they are Spanish, They're the two best players in the world at giving the final pass."
