Liverpool keeper Jones will start against Bournemouth

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says Brad Jones will be between the posts for their FA Cup tie with Bournemouth.

Rodgers has limited options at his disposal given the club's length injury list, but he is keen on giving the goalkeeper a run-out in the fourth-round tie at Goldsands Stadium.

"Brad Jones will play, if fit," confirmed Rodgers in his pre-match press conference at Melwood.

First-choice stopper Simon Mignolet will be rested, with the manager backing him to rise above recent defensive frailties.

"It's one of the key attributes that he has," Rodgers said of the Belgian's mental strength.

"He enjoys great responsibility as a 'keeper and he's never shied away from that. He had to take over from Pepe [Reina], who had been outstanding here for many years.

"So he's come in, and obviously every 'keeper will make mistakes, as will every player, but when a goalie does it, it gets highlighted even more.

"I've certainly never lost faith in him, and having him here has reinforced all the reasons we wanted him. He's got a first-class mentality, and is only going to improve.

"All in all, we've been really happy with him and we've got no worries with Simon."
