Liverpool jump into transfer battle for Porto attacker Luis Diaz

Liverpool are jumping into the transfer battle for Porto attacker Luis Diaz.

Jornal de Notícias says Liverpool are monitoring the situation of Diaz with a view to bringing him to Anfield during the upcoming January transfer window.

Diaz's arrival would somewhat soften the blow of the departures of both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane as the Reds duo jet off on international duty for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp views Diaz as his 'favourite solution' to the problems Salah and Mane's departures will inevitably create.

As a result, the Reds are rumoured to be preparing an official bid for the 24-year-old, though they will not go unchallenged for his signature.

Klopp's side will have to fork out £67m if they're to land the Colombia international in January.
