Liverpool jump into Man Utd, Barcelona De Ligt battle: Klopp's next triumph?

Liverpool are jumping into the race for Ajax captain Mattijs de Ligt.

BILD says De Ligt is to leave Ajax this summer after a remarkable breakout season.

Manchester United and Barcelona are thought to be leading the race to sign the 19-year-old.

But Liverpool have entered the race to sign De Ligt.

It's suggested De Ligt could be Jurgen Klopp's 'next triumph' after securing the Champions League title.

Should De Ligt join the Reds, he would partner his Holland team-mate Virgil van Dijk at Anfield.

Van Dijk said this past season of Liverpool's interest in De Ligt: "He is already very far, especially at that age. A good defender, good boy, calm, knows what he wants and hopefully he makes the right choice in his next step.

"He will be on the list, because they have enough scouts at the club."

When asked whether if he would be the best scout for Liverpool, van Dijk replied: "No, but if they need my opinion at Liverpool, I'll give it."
