Liverpool have joined Manchester United interest in Sporting CP fullback Nuno Mendes.

A Bola says the 18-year-old is a target for Liverpool, who are keen to strengthen the left-back position.

Andy Robertson is the clear first-choice but Jurgen Klopp could look to Mendes to provide support for the Scotland defender in the long run.

The teenager has played 17 times for Sporting's U23 team this season in the Liga Revelacao, scoring once and providing three assists.

United have been urged to move for Mendes by former Sporting star Nani.
