Liverpool are moving for Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare.

The French youngster is expected to leave Lille at the end of the season, with some of Europe's biggest clubs chasing his signature.

The Daily Star says Liverpool have opened talks with agents for Soumare over personal terms.

The youngster turned down a move to Newcastle last month, despite Lille accepting an offer for him in the final week of the winter market. The Toon's proposal was for a fee rising to €60m.

The Magpies also are in contact and are offering to double Soumare's salary to €2m.
