Liverpool icon Gerrard now linked with MK Dons

Steven Gerrard is a surprise candidate for the manager's job at MK Dons.

Sky Sports are reporting that the Liverpool legend, who left MLS club LA Galaxy this week, is being considered for the role with the League One club.

Gerrard, 36, is being linked with potential moves to Celtic and Newcastle United in a playing capacity, but is also on the radar of the Liverpool academy with some reports indicating Alex Inglethorpe wants him in a prominent role at Kirkby.

However, speculation regarding the job in Milton Keynes has circled after Sky sources suggested that Gerrard had held preliminary talks with club owner Pete Winkelman.

Gerrard is currently undergoing his UEFA 'A' coaching license and is believed to be somewhat interested in the job vacated by Karl Robinson late last month and currently held by interim manager Richie Barker.

Chelsea great Frank Lampard, who departed New York City FC this week, has also been linked with the MK job in recent days.
