Liverpool hero Xabi Alonso has joined Manchester City training today.

Former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich midfielder Alonso turned up to City's training session ahead of their big kick-off against Arsenal on Sunday at the Emirates, reports the Daily Mail.

The Spaniard was spotted in deep conversation with Pep Guardiola before sharing a joke with the City manager and his coaching staff on Wednesday in Manchester.

Guardiola and Alonso have forged a very strong friendship after the manager brought the latter to Bayern Munich back in 2014 before going on to win three consecutive Bundesliga titles.

The 36-year-old has recently acquired his coaching badges after taking part in a six-week crash course.
