James Milner will renew with Liverpool this summer.

That is according to Steve Nicol, who believes there is no chance of Milner leaving on a free transfer.

The English midfielder is out of contract, but given his value to the club, Nicol thinks he will extend.

The 33-year-old has been a key figure in the past two seasons as the Reds prepare for a second successive Champions League final.

Ex-Liverpool defender Nicol said to ESPN FC: "Absolutely no chance he goes anywhere other than his car to drive to Anfield to sign a new deal.

"It would be absolutely crazy, he's been a huge part of this year again.

"Regardless of his age, Liverpool will need him next year.

"Maybe he won't play as many games, but he'll be needed for cover all around the field."
