Liverpool hero McAteer: Mourinho can bring silverware to Spurs

Liverpool hero Jason McAteer is supporting Jose Mourinho and is urging Tottenham to stick with the Premier League, La Liga and UEFA Champions League winning manager.

Mourinho is under pressure as Spurs' push for European qualification falters.

Speaking to FreeSuperTips.com, McAteer said: "I'm a big fan of Mourinho, I think he's great for the game and I think he's a good fit for Tottenham. But it's just so difficult.

"When he was winning things, he was at the top of his game; he was top of his powers. He's almost been found out in a way and you do have to evolve as a manager. Mourinho is sort of stuck in his ways.

"I think it's been frustrating for him. The latter part of his time at Chelsea and I don't think Manchester United was a good fit for him, either.

"At the other clubs, when he's won stuff, it's been an amazing fit. At Madrid, Inter Milan and at Chelsea the first time around.

"He's got a cup final and I wouldn't put it past him to mastermind a win there. It's a big game for him because he's under pressure and he is a serial winner of trophies.

"I think it's very difficult to judge anybody this season with what's going on in this pandemic, I think it's taken a toll on everybody, in every situation.

"What they've had to deal with, the protocols that they've had to go through for every game, the change that no fans has made and not being able to spend any money or evolve.

"I would stick with him. I wouldn't move away from what he's trying to do. When they play well, they really, really play well. I think he's got another trophy in him, I think he's too good not too."
