Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has urged critics to stop comparing him to former Chelsea star Frank Lampard.

Gerrard and Lampard are arguably the two best midfielders in the Premier League era and the fans were most certainly very lucky to see the pair of greats competing in the league and rubbing shoulders in the England national team.

Naturally, many were quick to compare Gerrard to Lampard, regarding who was the better player, but the former Liverpool skipper is sick and tired of the comparisons.

The LA Galaxy star said of his New York City FC counterpart: "I was hoping people would finally stop comparing me with Frank after moving here (to MLS).

"He's a legend and certainly one of those high-end players who will help lift the quality of this league.

"But we've both drawn a line under our England careers so I don't see any reason why we should bring that topic up again.

"It was always a media thing - we get along just fine."
