Liverpool great Molby: Man Utd will not be as good as everyone thinks

Liverpool legend Jan Molby does not think that Manchester United has a genuine Premier League title chance this season.

United have splashed huge amounts of money to sign the likes of Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly while bringing in Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer and following the arrivals of so many world class players, many believe that the Red Devils will be able to claim glory in England's top flight.

However, Molby is not convinced by United despite their summer splurge and has gone as far as claiming that he would be 'amazed' to see Jose Mourinho's men challenging for the title during the upcoming season, while rating Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur as very good premiership hopes.

Molby wrote for the Liverpool Echo: "I'm not convinced that Manchester United are going to be as great as everyone keeps saying this season.

"People have gone overboard in terms of the signings they've made.

"I'd be amazed if they clicked sufficiently for them to compete for the title. I think United fans will be disappointed by the kind of football they play – it's not what the club has come to expect over the years.

"Jose Mourinho's style isn't the way they like to do things. Is Paul Pogba worth £89million? Of course he isn't. He's a good player but he's not sensational.

"I think the title will be between Manchester City and Tottenham. Spurs have hardly had a mention but I really like them. I expect them to be genuine challengers again. I watched Spurs a lot last season and all over the pitch they impressed me."
