Liverpool great Mark Lawrenson has questioned the hype around new Manchester United defender Raphael Varane.
Almost every United fan is excited over the thought of a four-time Champions League winner in Varane partnering club captain Harry Maguire at the heart of the Red Devils defence.
However, Liverpool legend Lawrenson remains unconvinced by the 28-year-old World Cup winner.
He told LFC TV: "I'm not sure he is [a fantastic signing].
"Have you seen how many games he's played in the last five seasons at Real Madrid?"
The Frenchman has spent a number of games on the side-lines for Real Madrid, though the bulk of his persistent injuries came more than four years ago.
