Liverpool goalscorer Milner: We showed great character for Burnley win

Liverpool had to come from behind to defeat Burnley 3-1 at Turf Moor.

Jack Cork gave the hosts a surprise lead after Alisson could not gather the ball following a corner but Jurgen Klopp's side hit back with three goals.

James Milner equalised with a superb low finish from distance and Roberto Firmino, one of seven players left out from the side that started against Everton on Sunday, tapped home from Virgil van Dijk's athletic cutback.

Xherdan Shaqiri ensured Liverpool moved back to within two points of Pep Guardiola's side with a clinical counter-attack goal moments after Alisson had saved superbly to deny Ben Mee.

Milner said, "The character we showed after going behind, to come back in that fashion is what we expect from this team.

"It was really tough but we showed the character of this team and these are performances you need."
