Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian: Covering Alisson has taken my game to new level

Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian says his game has gone to a new level since arriving on a free transfer from West Ham.

The 33-year-old has made 13 appearances for the Reds since joining on a free transfer in the summer, but is now back on the bench following Alisson's return after injury and suspension.

But rather than be dismayed at his role, Adrian has revealed it's helping take his game to new levels.

“I knew when I signed here that Ali had done really well last season so it was difficult to start playing," he admitted. “But from the beginning I feel like a number one as well. We're fighting for the same spot (but) I never feel like a second goalkeeper forever.

“I prepare myself mentally and physically. From the moment I signed here I am always ready and ready to take any opportunity. I have to be at my best so when I get the opportunity I am at a great level.

“This is one of the best clubs in the world and now we are the champions of the world and the champions of Europe so we need to keep fighting together.

“We have to push each other. The competition makes us both much better. It is not good when you are in a comfort zone. We are not just two goalkeepers. We are four because there is also Andy Lonergan and Caoimhin Kelleher.

“We have all been working together for a long time and everyone is 100 per cent so the manager knows that Adrian is here if he is needed."
