Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane admits that Southampton played a big role in his development.
The winger was already rated as one of the top prospects in the Premier League during his time at the Saints.
He was linked to top clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United, but eventually settled on the Reds as his destination.
And he admits his development at the Saints did a lot for his career. He spent 2014 to 2016 at the Saints, playing 67 games and scoring 21 goals.
"I developed my football in Southampton," Mane told Rakuten TV.
"We had a great team and when I got the offer from Liverpool, I was honoured to be able to step into the footprints of Salif Diao and El-Hadji Diouf, who have been my idols of my youth and a whole generation in Senegal.
