Liverpool encouraged in pursuit of unhappy PSG striker Cavani

Liverpool are monitoring Edinson Cavani's deteriorating situation at PSG. The Uruguayan is annoyed as he continues to play second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the Parc des Princes with Arsenal and Manchester City also keeping tabs.

Ex-PSG keeper Jerome Alonzo told Le Parisien: "We no longer recognize Cavani. He looks sad, his eyes no longer sparkle.

"With Cavani before, Paris can score a fourth goal late in the game. But his game is stereotyped.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger recently expressed his admiration for Cavani but any deal is likely to cost upwards of £50million.
