Liverpool encouraged as Napoli upset Zielinski agents

Liverpool remain keen on Napoli attacker Piotr Zielinski.

The Reds are monitoring Piotr Zielinski's thorny contract negotiations with Napoli, reports claim.

Zielinski, 24, was heavily linked with Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool in 2016 before the player decided to leave Empoli for Napoli instead in a deal worth £14million.

Calciomercato.com says Napoli would like to double his current £57m release clause to £114m to ward off growing interest in the 24-year-old.

But Zielinski's representatives aren't happy. They think £114m is excessive and aren't prepared to commit to a contract extension until the situation is resolved.

Just yesterday, Empoli president Fabrizio Corsi stated: "Zielinski is decisive in the league.

"In the Champions League, he had to play against Liverpool, when he went to Naples he had that alternative there, but in Naples they were good at convincing him, I have a bit of regret about him.

"I did not ask for a ransom, working for the interest of Udinese, who then made a deal with Napoli."
