Liverpool will ask for a buy-back clause if they sell Rhian Brewster to Sheffield United.
The Blades are being linked with a move for the 20-year-old striker, who is highly rated by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.
But Liverpool have competition for places and may want a more experienced forward, so Brewster could be allowed to leave.
Crystal Palace and Sheffield United want Brewster, but Sky Sports says the Reds will insist on a buy-back clause in any deal, allowing them to re-sign the player for a modest fee.
It gives them a lot more control over a player who does eventually want to make it at the club.
Brewster was excellent in a short-term loan spell with Swansea City last season, scoring 11 goals in 22 appearances.
