Liverpool defender van Dijk: This is how I'll stop Lewandowski...

Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk believes that his team is ready to contain Robert Lewandowski.

One of the challenges for the Reds in the Champions League round of 16 second leg is keeping the Polish striker quiet.

The tie is finely poised at 0-0 after the first leg at Liverpool.

And Van Dijk, who missed the first leg with a suspension, is relishing the chance to battle against Lewandowski.

Speaking about the Bayern striker, he said to UEFA.com: "You need to be aware of the qualities of every striker you face, as I always am, but sometimes you need to be smart and more than 100% ready for anything.

"If he's trying to run at you, trying to get past you, you need to be ready for that as well. You don't need to give any opportunities to those strikers because they will punish you and they will score."
