Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has spoken of lunching with the Dutch Royal Family last week.
Van Dijk skipped training on Thursday after being invited to lunch with the Dutch Royals.
He recalled to AD: "After the invitation came in, I immediately asked the club if I could be there, because it was a bit difficult between the Champions League and the duel with Manchester City. Fortunately, Pepijn Lijnders (assistant manager) also did his best, of course, as a Dutchman who knew that this was something great.
"But it was certainly worth it. I sat next to the King until after the main course. We talked about anything and everything. Yes, of course also about football."
