Liverpool defender Nat Phillips open to extending Stuttgart stay

Liverpool defender Nat Phillips is looking forward to a playing return in Germany.

Phillips is on-loan with Second Division VfB Stuttgart.

Stuttgart currently sit second in the table ahead of returning to action next Sunday away at SV Wehen Wiesbaden.

Recent reports in Germany have suggested Phillips could return to Stuttgart on loan next season should they win promotion.

“I've not looked that far ahead yet, especially amid the Coronavirus crisis. Football has been put on hold even though we're back training," Phillips told the Liverpool Echo. “There's not been a progression in the timeline of seasons and games and when next season will start.

“We've considered my different options but there's not been much of a progression. Stuttgart, if they want me, could be an option.

“I'll visit my options when the time comes. For now I'm focussed on the season.

“We want to get promotion with Stuttgart but once our season is over, it would be nice to come back and see Liverpool celebrate winning the league. That would be perfect."
