Liverpool defender Konate: France have no excuses for Tunisia defeat

France defender Ibrahima Konate has warned there will not be any favours for the opposition when they play in the Round of 16 of the World Cup.

The French rested several key players for their final group stage match against Tunisia, which they lost 1-0.

France had already qualified for the knockout round, and finished as group winners, which means they will take on Poland in the last 16 over the weekend.

“I hate losing," Liverpool defender Konate told BeIN Sports.

"There won't be any favours this weekend, it'll be a match and that's it. I can't say there were too many changes – if we're here today, we can't go with that excuse. We weren't at the level required, we were too wasteful.

"We need to concentrate on the next game, come together and forget this little error. Whether that's against Mexico, Argentina, or whoever, it's going to be a difficult match."
