Liverpool defender Joel Matip won't rule out eventually returning to Schalke.

Matip has a deal to 2024 currently with the Reds.

"I feel connected to Schalke," he told the 'Funke media group', "this club will remain part of me for the rest of my life."

Matip is currently "very happy in Liverpool," but also insists "never say never" regarding re-signing for S04.

“In football, four years is a long time," the 28-year-old points out, “to look so far forward in our industry is almost impossible. I'm just trying to focus on obvious things."
