Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren is out of the Club World Cup.

Lovren suffered a muscle injury in Liverpool's 2-0 win over RB Salzburg in the Champions League, and the club's website revealed he would not be travelling.

The 20-man squad does contain Gini Wijnaldum though, despite the midfielder being taken off in the Anfield side's 2-0 win over Watford on Saturday.

It is a first-choice squad that travels to the Middle East, with Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino all on the plane.

Liverpool remain clear at the top of the Premier League and are unbeaten, but face a challenge in competing on all fronts.
