Liverpool veteran Jamie Carragher has dismissed Franz Beckenbauer's criticisms of England.

Beckenbauer branded England "stupid" for finishing second and setting up today's clash with Germany.

"Well, they may have made a mistake by finishing top of their group and facing us, you never know!" Carragher says with a grin.

"There are always mind games before big games. It makes for good copy [in newspapers] for everyone, but when the game gets going, I don't think we'll be thinking about what Franz Beckenbauer has said."
