Liverpool cut short Kent's Freiburg loan with intent for Championship loan

Ryan Kent has returned to Liverpool after his disappointing loan spell with Freiburg was cut short.

The 21-year-old had just one start and six outings at the Bundesliga club since arriving in August.

With his playing time limited, both clubs agreed to end the season-long loan deal.

The Liverpool Echo claims Kent will now be loaned out to a club in the Football League.

Kent enjoyed tremendous success with Barnsley last season, having made 47 appearances for the Tykes and winning their young player of the year award.

It is believed a number of clubs in the lower leagues, including the Championship, are interested in acquiring the winger's services.
