Liverpool convinced landing Suarez as Ajax prepare to sell

Liverpool are closing in on Ajax striker Luis Suarez.

Suarez seems nearer the exit door at Ajax after being stripped of the captaincy by coach Frank de Boer.

The Daily Mail says though the Uruguayan striker is being tracked by Tottenham, he knows he is not their first choice and has let those closest to him know that his desire is to move to Anfield, especially as there is a strong Spanish speaking influence in the dressing room.

The Dutch Eredivise is currently in the middle of its winter break but many clubs played friendlies at the weekend and Suarez was involved in Ajax's match in Turkey.

But his body language was poor throughout and it was significant that he was noticeably detached from his team-mates before, during and after the game. Goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenberg has taken over the armband.
