Liverpool consider triggering Kabak clause and signing RB Leipzig stopper Konate

Liverpool could still retain Ozan Kabak and add Ibrahim Konate this summer, according to reports.

Recent reports linking RB Leipzig defender Konate to Liverpool have blown up in the press.

Even the player himself acknowledged this, stating his phone was "ringing all over the place" once the news broke.

While Konate deflected the question about his future, sources within Anfield are confident they will activate his release clause this summer.

It was originally thought the purchase of Konate would spell the end of Kabak's time at the club, with his loan from Schalke to expire once the season ends.

However, The Athletic says Liverpool have been impressed by the 21-year-old and could activate a clause to sign him permanently.

The Reds would have to pay £18m for the Turkey international.

Kabak has played seven times across all competitions for his new club.
