Liverpool defender Joe Gomez is expected to miss at least six weeks of action with a fractured leg, the club have confirmed.

The Englishman was replaced after 23 minutes in Wednesday night's 3-1 win over Burnley.

Gomez was clattered by Ben Mee, which prompted Jurgen Klopp to call for more protection for his players.

It is expected that the 21-year-old will miss up to 10 games for Liverpool during the all-important festive period, including Premier League games against Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal.
