Liverpool chiefs nervous Klopp delaying new contract talks

Liverpool chiefs are nervous about Jurgen Klopp delaying new contract talks.

The Mirror says Liverpool board members are worried that Klopp could leave the club at the end of his current deal as he stalls on signing a new contract.

Klopp has been with the Reds since 2015, and experienced his most successful campaign last season as he led the side to winning the Champions League and finishing runners-up in the Premier League.

As a result of his team's impressive performances on the pitch the Liverpool owners, Fenway Sports Group, are keen for Klopp to sign an improved new six-year contract which would see his salary increase from £7m to £10m-per-year.

The 52-year-old, however, is reportedly not yet ready to commit for the long-term, as he takes his health seriously and is aware of the need for rest.

He left former club Borussia Dortmund looking for a break after seven years in charge and also departed from his first team in management, Mainz 05, after the same length of time.
