Liverpool football chief Michael Edwards is locked in talks with the minders of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.
Express reports negotiations have run positively with the two parties close to agreeing personal terms.
Once Edwards reaches an agreement with Werner, a deal for the striker will be a formality courtesy of a buyout clause in his contract.
The Reds can cut out RBL in negotiations so long as they meet his escape clause - which is understood to be €55-60m.
The only sticking point for Liverpool is that the option has a deadline and will become void by the end of April.
