Liverpool chairman Werner joins squad in Marbella

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has joined the squad in Marbella.

The Reds arrived in Spain on Monday for a four-day stay as preparation for their Champions League round of 16 first leg against Bayern Munich next Tuesday.

Jurgen Klopp has taken a squad of 30 after Dejan Lovren was forced to stay at Melwood for treatment on an ongoing hamstring complaint.

And they were accompanied on Tuesday by Werner, who made a visit to the complex to meet the Reds boss and his players, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Werner, also the chairman of Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group, was spotted watching from the sidelines as the squad were put through their paces.

It comes the week after Liverpool, who have been under the control of FSG since October 2010, posted a club record pre-tax profit of £125million to May 2018.
