Liverpool chairman Tom Werner says they're strong supporters of financial fair play laws.
Manchester City are currently being investigated by UEFA, FIFA, the FA and the Premier League with a potential ban from European competition if found guilty.
Such action would send shockwaves around European football - but Werner says City need to be punished if found guilty of wrongdoing.
He told the Liverpool Echo: “One of the reasons why we were pleased to become involved with Liverpool was that we believed in the importance of Financial Fair Play rules.
“I don't know very much about what's going on with the investigations but all I can say is that we are strong advocates of the rules.
“We expect all the clubs in the league and all the clubs in Europe to comply. If they don't comply then there should be punishments."
