Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson named England Player of the Year

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been named England's BT Player of the Year.

Liverpool midfielder Henderson beat off competition for Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling and Tottenham striker Harry Kane in the public poll.

The gong caps an excellent 12 months for Henderson, having lifted the Champions League for the first time and is currently top of the Premier League with the Reds.

In 2019, the Sunderland-born ace played seven times for his country - including the Nations League semi-final defeat to Holland - and took his caps past the 50 mark.

Henderson said: “Very honoured and humbled to be named BT England Player of the Year. Even more so considering just how strong the England set-up is."
