Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson says they'll need the Anfield crowd tonight against Champions League opponents Atletico Madrid.
Henderson wrote for the Liverpool match programme tonight: "What we have now is the kind of challenge that will occur in pretty much every season and if this squad has shown anything over recent years it is that we are more than capable of finding solutions when faced with problems. Now we must do so again.
"Part of this process involves our supporters – it always does. I will never, ever take your support for granted and I always count myself as being incredibly fortunate to play for a club where the supporters play such a pivotal role.
"The reason why 'the 12th man' is not a cliché at our club is because it is true. I know I'm biased, but I would argue that there is no club where this applies more than it does at Liverpool.
"We will need that 12th man tonight. We will need Anfield to be every bit as raucous and intimidating as the atmosphere we faced in Madrid.
"The responsibility for delivering always rests with the players on the pitch, but there is no question that our supporters can help us and if anyone requires any evidence I could easily provide a list of games where this has happened.
"Nights like tonight are always about what we can achieve together. Hopefully this will be another one where our unity is our greatest strength."
