Liverpool captain Henderson in the middle of club vs country row

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson finds himself in the middle of a club versus country row.

The England international has been ruled out since February with an ongoing foot injury. The 26-year-old is also an important part of Gareth Southgate's England squad but Reds boss Jurgen Klopp made it very clear that he will not be available for England's summer fixtures unless he manages to prove his fitness before the end of the season.

The German said: "We have not made a final judgement for this season. We don't know if he will back tomorrow in training or next week.

"Because it is Jordan and he is a really high fitness level, even if it just swimming, we know we can think about him immediately when he is ready.

"Then we could think about the national team. If he has games he could play, if not it makes no sense. But no we did not speak (with the FA)."
