Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson hailed the performance of Roberto Firmino for victory over Southampton.

Henderson was quick to pay tribute to Firmino, who laid on goals for all three of Liverpool's scorers on Saturday.

"Some of the stuff he does is madness really!" he told the Reds' website.

"But he's another outstanding player for us and it was another big performance from him.

"Especially in the second half, everyone put in a really good performance. We're just really delighted to get the three points, especially going into the break now."

Despite the win, Henderson and Liverpool are sticking to their policy of not getting carried away.

"We're getting closer to our target but I don't see why we need to change – I keep saying it every week but it's the truth," he continued.

"We take the next game as it comes, that's the next challenge and the biggest challenge.
