Liverpool captain Henderson: Defenders don't know where to put their arms

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has hit out at the hand-ball law after their draw with Manchester City.

Referee Craig Pawson awarded Manchester City a penalty when Kevin De Bruyne's cross struck Joe Gomez's hand just inside the area towards the end of the first half at the Etihad.

Although De Bruyne dragged the resulting spotkick wide, Henderson believes that the rule is unfair on defenders and is hoping it will be reviewed.

"People will say I am biased because it is against us but I saw one in the Leicester game before and it is similar," he said when asked about the incident.

“I find it so difficult for defenders. The pace in which De Bruyne crosses the ball Joe is running back to his own goal and it hits it hand, where are defenders going to put his arms?

“I think it is so difficult for defenders, they are running back towards their own goal and they don't know where to put their arms.

“It was harsh but they have been pretty consistent. In the Leicester game they gave it and they gave it.

“So in terms of the law they will say it is a penalty, but for us as players it is harsh, and I think it is hard for defenders to get out of the way of that.

“Everyone is finding it difficult to know where to put their arms. Hopefully the refs can look at it and it shouldn't be given in both games."
