Martin Skrtel believes that Liverpool are capable of dealing with the departures of Steven Gerrard and Raheem Sterling.

Liverpool have made a huge splash in the transfer market this summer but despite a host of quality players coming in, many believe that the loss of key duo Gerrard to LA Galaxy and Sterling, imminently to Manchester City, will be a huge blow for the Reds.

However, defender Skrtel is not particularly worried regarding the departures of the pair and has stated that the new signings are good enough to negate the losses.

Skrtel told the Liverpool Echo: "Obviously we have lost Steven (Gerrard) who was our captain and it will be difficult to replace him and now we have lost Raheem, but new players have come in.

"This season we have to play more as a team, work together and stick together on the pitch as well and then hopefully our performances and results will be better."
